born on governors island this piece is inspired by lights movement and how it shifts through spaces. before my residency, i had already adapted an idea in my head of how many pieces I can make while on the island. i didn’t, however, take into account the amount of rest my body desired, and how much inspiration I was getting from just allowing myself to sit back and observe; taking everything in. i believe my solitude there rewired the artist i am today, repurposing recycled materials to create beautiful works of art that can adapt with me as i evolve.
weaving lights allows me to wonder, and to imagine a new idea while building on top of what already exists, a theory i believe transcends my lineage.
